There’s no stopping Poetry Month as we head into our 6th verse-jammed day. That’s almost a FULL WEEK of poetry! Can you handle it?? i’m not sure i can.
Exhibit A is this poem i wrote for Andreas, who joined the NAaT crew at the $10 Medici level, and who – i have it on good authority – is a die-hard heavy metal fan. (Is he? i don’t even know.)
So here are a few stanzas that read like i cribbed them from a 16 year old boy’s binder graffiti. If you yell it with a hoarse, throaty voice, it kinda works.
Metal Messiah
Andreas
You slay us
With your machina ex deus
Sacred robot straight from God
Machine gun hands will spray us
Murderous android heaven-sent
Deliver us from life
Smoking barrels, laser eyes
Sow your blessed strife.
Baptize us with fire and bullets
Bless us with your boon
Mad inventor, master planner
Cleanse us with our ruin.
