Poetry Month charges ahead with a new poem for backer Jason Kennedy, who joined the crew at the $3 Meeple level. i have never met Jason, but i have seen him peering suspiciously from a gap in a set of Venetian blinds.
The Cradle Conspiracy
i wouldn’t say Jason is paranoid,
But he has red yarn stuck to his wall
It’s an intricate map of connections and theories
About those who keep him in thrall.
The paperboy’s practicing mind control
And the dentist put wires in his molars
Enabling him to hear all the thoughts
Of the neighbourhood kids in their strollers
Those babies, he claims, are up to no good
Plotting cruel revenge ‘gainst their nannies
They aim to imprison their mums and their dads
Their aunties, their sibs, and their grannies.
It’s an intricate plot he’s been tracking for weeks
And it goes all the way to the top
The babies will rule, with their diapers and drool
As Jason yells “They must be stopped!”
