The very first game i taught viewers how to play on this channel when it began in schmiggedy-aught-something was The Castles of Burgundy. Later, i told you what i actually thought of it in a Find the Fun segment. Now, along comes this churched-up version with all its bells and whistles (whistles available for an additional fee).

The next time a publisher promises a big box version of a board game and claims that it fits all of the pieces beautifully, i’m just not going to fall for it.

A Castle by Any Other Publisher would Play as Sweet

i mention in the video that one of the appeals of the original Castles of Burgundy was its costs. That advantage has been stripped away by this decidedly not-cheap deluxe version. The good news is that the original (or even the garish update) can still be had for a fraction of the price, and it’s the same great game as the one you’ll find from Awaken Realms, buried under all that taffeta and lace.
